The Garda Classico Superiore is the most important red wine of the Lake Garda and it is made with a blend of different grapes, all listed in the appellation document, and the Avanzi winery uses Groppello, Barbera, Rebo and Sangiovese aged in French barrels to add complexity and structure to the wine. This red wine has an elegant and complex nose, with plenty of black fruit and notes of vanilla, on the palate is full, smooth, lively and well balanced. It is perfect with grilled meat or roasts.
The artisan who made it
The Avanzi winery, located on the shore of Lake Garda, has been making wine for three generations, growing local grapes from Trebbiano di Lugana to produce their Lugana to the less known Groppello and Marzemino, together with international grapes such as Cabernet Sauvignon. Nicola, together with his brother and cousins, the current generation together with the previous one still actively involved, work tirelessly to make outstanding wines.
