The grape Gaglioppo is a Calabrian native of probable Greek origin and spread mainly in the provinces of Cosenza and Catanzaro. The Gaglioppo grape is the most common variety in Calabria where it is one of the components of all the red Doc wines of the region, and among them the most significative is the Cirò rosso.
The Gaglioppo vine has many genetic similarities with Frappato. As for the other red and rose wines of Calabria, Gaglioppo is also blended with many other white and red varieties, including the Greco Nero, Nerello Cappuccio, Malvasia Nera, Malvasia Bianca and Greco.
The berry is black, medium, spheroid or oval precisely because of the compactness of the bunch. The skin is pruinose, medium textured and thick, of black-brown color. Its bunch is medium or large, pyramidal or conical, rarely short or cylindrical, simple or with one or two wings, and with a medium, pentagonal leaf.
The Gaglioppo vine prefers slightly expanded forms of farming and pruning. It has good and constant production.
From the vine Gaglioppo we get an intense ruby red wine, with wine perfumes, that over time they will evolve into a rich bouquet. The rosé is bright pink and features a floral and fruity bouquet.
Currently, we do not stock any wine, please come back later, we constantly add new wines.
